PHOENIX (CBS5) -
One man died and another was in stable condition after a shooting at a Phoenix apartment complex late Wednesday night.
Police said two men were in an apartment near 19th and Peoria avenues when they were shot by an intruder about 11:40 p.m., according to Phoenix police Officer James Holmes on Thursday.
The surviving victim, a 34-year-old man, told police there was a knock at the apartment door, and the suspect immediately shot him as he opened the door, Holmes said. The victim said the suspect then came into the apartment and shot a 29-year-old man before running from the scene.
Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital, but the 29-year-old died on the way, Holmes said.
The suspects were still on the loose and descriptions of the suspect were vague, Holmes said.
He said no motive had been determined and the investigation was continuing.
No other information was immediately available.
