KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Police said a homicide suspect was fleeing from undercover detectives when he crashed into two other vehicles near 75th Street and The Paseo.
Undercover detectives with the Kansas City Police Department were following the vehicle of a suspect wanted in a homicide about 2:30 p.m. when the person driving the vehicle realized they were being followed and took off.
Officers on scene said the suspect was traveling north on The Paseo when he ran a red light and got T-boned by a black Volvo that was traveling east on 75th Street. The suspect's vehicle was pushed off the road and into a tree, and the Volvo ran into a white van that was traveling west.
In all, six people were inside the three vehicles. Four people, including the suspect, were taken to the hospital. Officers on scene said they all suffered minor injuries.
Police said the driver showed a reckless disregard for other drivers on the road.
"It shows you what happens when somebody puts what they want above the safety of the public," Sgt. Bill Mahoney with the Kansas City, MO, Police Department said. "We're all out here driving every day, and it's just something that we hate to see happen."
Police aren't giving out a lot of details about the suspect or the crime he's believed to have played a role in, but they said their investigation is still ongoing.
