KAUFMAN, TX (KLTV) -
Former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Lyle Williams has been arrested and booked into jail on a terroistic threat charge, according to Kaufman County jail records.
Williams was booked into the Kaufman County Jail around 12:30a.m. Saturday on the threat charge. Records show he was also charged with two charges of insufficient bond. His bond is set at $3 million, $1 million for each charge.
The arrest comes after agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Texas Rangers and Kaufman County Sheriff's Investigators searched two homes for several hours in Williams' Kaufman neighborhood Friday.
Williams has been questioned in the investigation into the deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, McLelland's wife Cynthia and McLelland's prosecutor Mark Hasse.
In a case prosecuted by McLelland and Hasse in 2012, Williams was convicted of stealing computer monitors from the county. He was sentenced to probation for the crimes and still maintained his innocence, appealing the conviction.
Authorities have not named Williams a suspect or linked him directly to the deaths of the McLellands or Hasse.
