An unlikely musical collaboration between country superstar Brad Paisley and rap icon LL Cool J is sparking controversy.

The duo tackles a sensitive topic in their new song, Accidental Racist.

"I'm a white man living in a south land, just like you I'm more than what you see," sings Paisley. "I'm proud of where I'm from but not everything we've done."

In the song, Paisley sings about being proud he was raised in the south, while LL Cool J raps about what it's like living in the "hood" and breaking stereotypes, saying "just because my pants are saggin' doesn't mean I'm up to no good."

They are hoping the song will launch a dialogue about prejudice.

Paisley said he wrote the lyrics after he was called a racist on Twitter for wearing a shirt with a confederate flag on it. He said Twitter comments made him wonder "is that all it takes to be considered a racist?"

The song is on paisley's new album Wheelhouse, which goes on sale today.
