A tough traffic situation for commuters in Midland as a large construction project is set to start Monday.
Construction crews will be installing a new water main, widening Jefferson Avenue at the intersection with Wackerly and also will resurface Jefferson between U.S. 10 and Joe Mann Boulevard.
People traveling in that area can expect intermittent lane closures on both Jefferson Avenue and Wackerly Streets until the project is completed in mid-June. Officials have said neither roadway will have closures at the same time in order to alleviate some of the traffic congestion.
Crews are also installing a secondary water main project north of U.S. 10., east of the Midland Mall.
Commuters can expect long delays in the area so it is best to seek an alternate route. Alternate routes include West Chapel Lane or Joe Mann Boulevard to Joseph Drive.
