Hazmat crews respond to crash on I-70, 2nd wreck reported hours later

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Hazmat crews responded to a crash on Interstate 70 Friday night.

The crash at I-70 and Lee's Summit Road involved a vehicle carrying radioactive materials.

It shut down all lanes of westbound I-70 for a few hours, but all lanes were back open after the area was cleaned up.

There's no word on any injuries.

A few hours later, another wreck was reported on I-70. It happened in Kansas City, KS, in the westbound lanes of I-70 near 110th street about 7 a.m. Saturday.

Police said a woman was thrown from her jeep during the crash and suffered unknown injuries. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Crews temporarily shut down two lanes of I-70 while they cleaned up the crash.
