KCK residents evacuated after gas main leak

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

Some KCK residents were evacuated Thursday morning after a gas line was ruptured.

A city crew digging for a sewer line accidentally hit a gas line near 21st Street and Quindaro Boulevard. Firefighters and gas company crews were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m. 

Authorities said 17 homes were impacted, and two dozen people were evacuated.

The gas is shut off now as utility crews make repairs.

So far, no injuries have been reported.
