Easter weekend burglar hits 5 Raytown businesses

Posted: Updated:
RAYTOWN, MO (KCTV) -

Police in Raytown are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who broke into and stolen items from five businesses over the Easter weekend.

The criminal's spree began Saturday morning at the Ace Beauty Supply in the 9300 block of 350 Highway. Four businesses were hit on Sunday. Those were Home Town Wireless, which is in the same block as the beauty supply business, Direct General Insurance, 6100 block of Raytown Road, and Goodyear Tires, 5200 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Surveillance video captured the man breaking the glass and ducking into the doors at the beauty supply shop. The owner said the thief apparently knew how to duck underneath the sensors to avoid setting them off.

The thief stole money from the register. The owner has tightened security as a result, and recommends others do so.

The thief was wearing a dark-colored jacket with stripes on the sleeves and a hooded sweatshirt with the sleeves cut off over the jacket. The burglar used similar techniques.

If you have any information, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
