Fire heavily damages east KC home

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A fire heavily damaged a home on Kansas City's far east side Tuesday morning.

The fire started in a one-story home just after 4:45 a.m. near East 41st Street and Arlington Avenue, which is in a neighborhood north of Interstate 70 and east of Blue Ridge Cutoff.

A man who lives in the house was not at home at the time.

The fire was called under control at about 5:30 a.m. The fire department had to run their water hoses about two blocks to fight the fire.

The fire department has not yet determined the cause of the fire.
