Smartphone apps let people stay involved in March Madness

FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV/CNN) -

March Madness is about to get into full swing and if you can't sneak a peek at all the hoops action on TV, you can follow the action on your smartphone.

Let the madness begin. College basketball's rite of spring. The big dance can be a delicate one between workers and bosses, with hoops action getting underway during the work day.

Lucky for fans, some smartphone apps keep tabs on every March Madness moment.

The NCAA's official March Madness app lets users track scores, schedules and bracket action, as well as what fellow fans are saying in the app's "social arena." Those with cable can log in for unlimited access to livestreams of all 67 games.

PocketBracket erases the need for old-school paper brackets and helps fans keep track of multiple brackets on their mobile device as well as organize pools among family, friends and co-workers. Brackets are automatically updated after each game.

FanCake puts the icing on top of a sweet victory with rewards for simply watching the game. It also allows users to connect with Facebook friends and other sports enthusiasts during the live game action to predict plays and scores. Credits can be redeemed for team merchandise and tickets.
