Boy, 10, leads police on car chase in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Investigators say a 10-year-old boy led Independence police on a chase Sunday morning in his mother's car.

Police say it all started when the woman caught her son smoking. He then grabbed the car keys and took off.

Police followed the boy for a short time before he crashed near 291 Highway and 40 Highway.

The boy was taken into custody, and no one was hurt.
