KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a brutal attack on an elderly couple inside their Kansas City home.

Tony L. Putman pleaded guilty to four felony counts including forcible rape, second-degree robbery and two kidnapping counts.

A judge could sentence him to life in prison for raping the then-84-year-old woman. The robbery and kidnapping sentences will run consecutive to the rape count.

Sentencing will be held May 15 at 1 p.m.

In exchange for the guilty plea, Jackson County prosecutors dropped four other counts against Putman related to the July 2012 crimes.

Putman remains jailed on a $500,000 cash bond.

The 93-year-old male victim was home alone when Putnam began to ransack the house and attacked him. Putman hit the man in the face and bound him with belts, according to court documents.

In the meantime, the man's wife came home. She had been at the bank where she had gotten $400.

Police said the woman came into the house and heard her husband moaning.

"She went upstairs to check on him, and she met his attacker," according to court documents. "He bound her hands and demanded money. She gave him $5."

After forcing the woman upstairs, Putman took $400 from her, which she had just received from the bank. He then raped her, according to court documents. Putman allegedly also stole jewelry from the home.

After the 93-year-old man broke free, he discovered his wife crumpled in a heap on the floor.

Putman cut himself while breaking into the home, and that led detectives to him quickly. He had initially denied any involvement in the crimes.
