Flushing Twp. Police officers could return to work Monday

Posted: Updated:
FLUSHING TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Some local police officers could return to work as early as Monday after the Flushing Township Board of Trustees voted not to appeal an arbitrator's ruling.

The township board voted Thursday night not to appeal the ruling that the township broke labor contracts when it fired three officers. The officers are Louis Cook, Mark Bolin and Andrew Owens.

Those officers will now be reinstated with back pay, but they still need to reassemble the department.

The board is also negotiating to bring back the former police chief as well.

Folks there have mixed reactions to the decision.

Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies will continue to patrol the township until the end of April.
