KU, Kansas State fans flood Kansas City for tournament

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The packed mixture of crimson and blue and purple downtown on a Thursday in mid-March means it's time for the Big 12 basketball tournament.

Thousands of fans flowed into the Kansas City Power and Light District starting early Thursday.

The University of Kansas held a pep rally Thursday morning to kick off the party that has yet to stop.

The hope is to have a Sunflower Showdown Saturday night of KU vs. Kansas State. As the top two seeds, the teams get the large locker rooms used by pro basketball teams when they are at the Sprint Center.

K-State takes on Texas at 6 p.m. while KU is enjoying their blowout victory over Texas Tech. Missouri, which joined the SEC this past fall, plays at 9 p.m. on KSMO-TV.
