
A KCK apartment complex will soon offer Wi-Fi in hopes of helping bridge the digital divide between low-come residents and the more well-off.
Juniper Gardens will offer free digital literacy classes once the Wi-Fi network is installed by the end of March. Nearly 80 access points are being installed at the 390-unit complex.
Connecting for Good, a nonprofit, is doing the work. The $40,000 project is being paid mostly through grant funds and donations. The project will include two computer labs.
Residents will be taught basic skills like using the internet and email. Some residents said they are eager to learn and hope it helps lead to a better life for their children.
