Valley inventor develops in-home automatic car wash
Inventor Dale Retter and his AutoGreenWash system
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Scottsdale inventor Dale Retter has developed AutoGreenWash, an in-home automatic car washing device that's installed in the garage of your home.
With the push of a button, the waterproof enclosure lowers and 48 computer-controlled rotating sprayers wash and rinse your car before drying it with warm, filtered air. The system also captures used water for home irrigation.
Retter says there is demand for his AutoGreenWash.
"We have a couple people on a wait list but they're all outside of the Phoenix area. We want to install the first ones in Phoenix, so we're looking to try and do that now," said Retter.
The system costs roughly $29,500 for the unit and about $4,000 for installation.
Retter understands that the initial cost is out of range for most folks but compares his invention to another invention once considered a luxury.
"We want to be like the dishwasher, we want to start out as the super luxury device, then as the price comes down over the years, we want it to become a standard device that the average homeowner will have," Retter said.
