Local transportation officials held another meeting to discuss the future of the Brent Spence Bridge.

The Major Transportation and Infrastructure Projects Subcommittee met with a spokesperson from the Ohio Department of Transportation on Tuesday.

According to a new study from AAA, drivers are five times more likely to have an accident in the Brent Spence Bridge corridor, compared to other areas of Ohio and Kentucky.

Out of 2,600 people surveyed, 60% feel the bridge is unsafe and 90% are in favor of building a new bridge.

The Brent Spence Bridge project is estimated around $2.7 billion. Officials are now in the process of implementing a toll to pay for the project.

At a meeting in February, early modeling of a study showed a toll on the bridge could be on the 'lower end' of the $1-5 range.

AAA says 48% of the people surveyed are in favor of using tolls as a source of funding for the project.
