A young man was shot and killed during a party overnight in Kansas City, KS, authorities say.

Police say shortly after midnight Thursday, about five people were inside a home in the 3100 block of South 63rd Street when an argument started.

Someone pulled a gun and started shooting.

When officers arrived, a man in his 20s was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. He was later identified as 20-year-old Tyler L. Manis.

Early in the day detectives said they were interviewing a person of interest. They later said they have a man in his 20s in custody, pending formal charges.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the shooting, police say.

The Kansas City, KS, Police Department's Major Case Unit is encouraging anyone with information regarding the incident to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
