KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Sunday, a group of people will be searching for a dog lost after the explosion and fire at JJ's restaurant.
Perceus, also known as Percy, ran away from his owner's place of business after the explosion Feb. 19. He is a two-year-old yellow lab.
Dr. John Verstraete's medical clinic practice is next door to JJ's. He, his employees, Perceus and a second dog were inside when the explosion occurred. While he was able to rescue one of his dogs, but Perceus got scared from the loud noises and ran off.
Organizations like Great Plains SPCA have been helping to return Perceus back to his owners. They have posted to their Facebook page locations where he was spotted. His owners believe he is still in the Plaza area because they recently saw a clip of the dog running in the West Plaza area.
Sunday, a search party is being put together. Organizers said those wishing to help can meet at the Starbucks on the Plaza at 1 p.m. They said participants should bring a leash and treats. They will be combing the area, especially all parking garages.
There is a $1,500 reward for finding Perceus.
