Three cast members of Modern Family get stuck in Kansas City elevator

Posted: Updated:

Some cast members of the hit television comedy Modern Family got more than they bargained for during a trip to the Kansas City metro this weekend.

Actors Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson came to Kansas City on Friday for a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City and ended up getting stuck at Crown Center.

The trio was among 15 people who got stuck on the third floor of the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel.

The actors were trapped for about an hour before the Kansas City Fire Department got them out.

There were headlining the fundraiser and were freed about 10 p.m., an hour after they were scheduled to appear.

Stonestreet tweeted a photo of the group in the elevator along with the message, "I honestly handled being stuck in an elevator for 50min better than I thought. All @jessetyler did was pass wind. That's my mom in blue."

Ferguson tweeted, "Finally made it out of the stuck elevator at the one hour mark. At least the firemen in K.C. are cute." It was accompanied by a short video of crews helping Bowen out using a ladder.

All in all, everyone seemed to be laughing about the unfortunate situation.

Stonestreet grew up in Kansas City, KS. When the trio finally took the stage, the actors praised and thanked the fire department.
