KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities are investigating a possible homicide on the city's east side.

Police say about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday a person walking spotted a man's body next to an Interstate 70 overpass, near the intersection of East 29th Terrace and Oakley Avenue.

Police temporarily blocked off the intersection in order to complete their investigation. They said it's not necessarily a homicide, but they won't know until an autopsy has been completed - they are trying to determine who the man is and what happened to him.

"We're not really sure if it's a homicide yet. But we're gonna treat it as one until proven otherwise," Capt. Steve Young with the Kansas City, MO, Police Department said.

The walkway where the man's body was found sits over I-70 near Van Brunt Boulevard and is used often. Many people were seen crossing it Tuesday.
