OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -

A girl on her way to school reported that she was approached by a man with a rag. Overland Park police are treating it as a suspicious activity.

Police say they don't want to discount any incident that is reported to them and plan to step up patrols around area schools.

Authorities say the 13-year-old was on her way to Holly Spirit Catholic School early Wednesday morning, walking with her bike near 103rd Street and Goddard Avenue.

The man stopped his car, turned on his hazard lights and with a rag in hand started to walk around the car toward the girl, police said.

Authorities said the girl became scared, thinking the man was walking toward her. She jumped on her bike, and road off to school.

The man did not say anything to the girl, and she wasn't sure if the man ran after her.

The girl reported the incident to the school. The school then sent a letter home to parents on Wednesday so they could be aware of the incident.

Police say the man's description doesn't match any earlier incidents, and there is no evidence he did anything wrong.
