KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A school bus was involved in a wreck in the Northland on Wednesday afternoon and one student was inured.
The crash was reported about 3:10 p.m. at North Bennington Avenue and 48th Street.
The bus had 22 students on board and belongs to the North Kansas City School District. A spokesperson for the school district said it was leaving from Maple Park Middle School, only a few blocks away at Bennington Avenue and what would be 53rd Street.
A spokesperson for the Kansas City Fire Department who was on scene said the bus was traveling westbound on 48th Street when it turned left onto North Bennington in front of a sedan that was traveling east. The collision knocked the car onto a curb.
An official with the school district said one student suffered minor injuries and they were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Their parents were contacted and came to the scene. The remaining students were taken by a second bus back to the school where their parents were notified and came to pick them up.
The driver of the sedan was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The scene was cleared about 4:30 p.m.
An investigation into the crash will take place to determine how and why it happened.
