KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
About 700 students at Central Academy of Excellence are getting the day off Tuesday because fumes from construction at the school was causing problems to some students.
Contractors are currently working and restoring the school's indoor pool.
A chemical one of the contractors was using caused fumes to build up inside the school overnight.
Classes started as planned Tuesday morning, but some students began to complain.
The students were temporarily were moved to the gymnasium as school officials continued to try to air out the building.
However, shortly after 8 a.m. the district decided to release the students early.
Some students were released shortly after 8 a.m., the others had to wait until the district could get buses back to the school.
