RAYTOWN, MO (KCTV) -
Six people were displaced following a fire at a Raytown apartment complex Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the report of an apartment fire about 11:15 a.m. in the 9200 block of East 54th Terrace on the third floor of a six-unit building.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire in the rear of the structure.
Heavy winds made extinguishing the difficult, firefighters said, but crews managed to contain the fire to a single unit.
Two additional units did receive water damage as a result of the extinguishment. No injuries were reported, and damage was estimated at $300,000.
All of the smoke detectors found in the unit caught fire were not working, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
