Lanes re-open after wreck on Highway 71

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 71 were temporarily shut down after a wreck just north of Interstate 70 that happened about 2 p.m.

Kansas City Police said people have suffered severe injuries, but haven't said how many. Authorities also said a young person is among those injured, but they haven't said the person's age and gender.

The wreck was cleared and lanes re-opened shortly before 3 p.m.
