MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -
A sleepover ended early at a grandmother's home in Middletown after she kicked an 11- and 10-year-old boy out in the middle of the night.
Just after 9 a.m. Sunday, police said they were sent to a home on Risingtrail Drive on an allegation that two young boys were kicked out of the home they were sleeping at around 4 a.m.
When officers arrived, they said they spoke to a woman who said she woke up at 8:30 a.m. and found her son, 11, and his friend, 10, were home early from a sleepover, which took place at the home of Barbara Aiello.
She said she found out the boys were kicked out of the home around 4:30 a.m., about four hours prior to the discovery of the boys at home, in 23 degree temperatures.
Police then went to Aiello's home to get her version of what took place.
She said she has custody of her 14-year-old grandson, and that the two other boys slept at her home Saturday night. She said all three boys were on the third floor of the home.
In the early morning hours, Aiello said she "couldn't take anymore" as the boys were being too loud and told them "you have to leave" and then "ordered them out of her home."
Police asked Aiello if she had their phone numbers, and she stated no and also asked if perhaps she should have brought the young boys home as the temperatures were below freezing, and she said she never thought of that.
Police arrested Aiello, 71, and charged her with two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
She was released on a promise to appear in court and is expected to appear Feb. 11.
