INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Police have two men in custody following a stolen car chase early Tuesday morning.

The brief pursuit started shortly after 6:30 a.m. when two men stole the car, which was warming up outside a home located at East Fifth Terrace North and North Seminole Drive, which is in a neighborhood just north of Salisbury Road.

About 15 minutes later, police spotted the car on southbound Highway 291 near Truman Road.

Police began following the car.  As the pursuit continued the stolen car was involved in a non-injury accident on Hwy. 291 and Gudgell Road.

The pursuit eventually ended about 6:55 a.m. at East R. D. Mize Road and East Eureka Road, when the suspects drove off the road and stopped on the bank of a nearby ravine.

The men ran from the car but were quickly caught by police.
