SHAWNEE, KS (KCTV) -

Police in Shawnee are looking for suspect in connection with an attempted abduction.

Authorities say a boy was walking home from school Friday in 7400 block of Bond Street when he saw an SUV parked on the street.

Detectives said as he approached the vehicle, a man got out and attempted to grab him while demanding him to get in the car.

The vehicle was described as a faded red 2000s model, possibly a Cadillac Escalade or GMC Denali, with tinted windows.

The boy told police that he ran from the scene to his home where he called his mother to tell her what had happened.

The suspect is described as being a black man about 28-35 years old, 5'10" tall, weighing 150-175 pounds with shoulder length dreadlocks, possibly with beads woven into the hair.

He was wearing a red sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and Nike Air Jordan tennis shoes and a black ball cap with a flat bill being worn backwards.

Police said the suspect also has a scar on his left arm and a tattoo on his upper right arm, and may have some gold caps on his teeth.

Anyone with information about the suspect is encouraged to call the Shawnee Police Department at 913-631-2155.
