Police: Missing KC girl, 8, found safe

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police searched for a missing 8-year old Somalian girl for about 30 minutes Thursday morning.

Officers were notified about 9 a.m. that the girl had not shown up for school at Foreign Language Academy, located at 3450 Warwick Boulevard.

The girl's sister was able to catch the bus to school, but the missing girl was not on the bus.

Her parents became concerned because the girl did not have many friends in the area.

The girl lives in an apartment located in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue.

Police went to her home to talk with her mother, while the girl's father went to the school.

The girl was found shortly after 9:30 a.m. at an ATA bus stop.
