Police find man brutally beaten on porch of KC home

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police found a man brutally beaten on the porch of a home.

Officers were called at 9:56 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 3600 block of Highland Avenue.

According to police, when officers arrived, they saw a man in his 20s on the porch with severe head injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man was later identified as 25-year-old Jachin M. Reedy of Kansas City, MO.

The cause of death is unknown but his death is being investigated as a homicide and a man was charged in the murder Wednesday.

Leroy E. Chism, 33, faces a count of second-degree murder. According to court documents, witnesses said Chism and Reedy were drinking at a home nearby when Chism hit the victim twice with a handgun.

Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash for Chism.
