MADISON, SD (KCTV) -
A high school wrestler wound up getting pinned to the mat, but not by his opponent.
Amazing video out of Madison, SD, has been passed around social media sites.
Michael McComish, 18, had just started his match. All the lights in the gym were turned down except for a long spotlight above the wrestlers. Suddenly that light fell right on top of McComish.
"I heard the chains that were holding it up. I heard them. Next thing I knew it was really bright. Next thing I knew I was like, get this thing off me," he said. "I could see the blood coming off of me. They had, like, a whole handful of paper towels and it was still going through the paper towels."
McComish had to have 20 stitches in two places on his head. He was hoping to continue the match but couldn't, and his opponent gave him the medal after the match.
