In an attempt to alert the public of risk created by distracted drivers at busy intersections, a Kansas City crash lawyer and driver's safety advocate has released a list identifying "Kansas City's 10 Most Dangerous Intersections."
Douglas R. Horn, founder of Horn Law Firm, complied the list after reviewing the locations of more than 7,500 vehicle crashes on Kansas City roadways in 2012.
The crash reports were gathered from public records provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The No.1 intersection was located at Interstate 70 and Interstate 435 with 60 crashes reported resulting in 15 injuries.
"Most of us approach intersections with the assumption that the other drivers are going to obey the traffic signs and signals," Horn said in a written statement. "Unfortunately, because of the influx of distracted drivers on our roadways, relying on such assumptions too often results in crashes involving injuries and fatalities."

In his report, Horn states that because of the proliferation of cell phones and smartphones in the hands of both teens and adults, surveys show that up to 25 percent of drivers have become distracted and therefore dangerous as drivers.
"The best advice we can give to drivers at intersections is to drive alert, buckled and cautious," Horn said.
