Direct-gas fired Blow-Thru space heating technology from Cambridge Engineering selected by gas & electric utility company for steam retrofit applications
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) January 22, 2013
Based on their own past experience with energy efficient Cambridge direct-fired space heating technology, a New England gas and electric power utility set the example for companies wanting to convert from steam to natural gas for heating/ventilating their industrial facilities by converting to direct-gas fired Blow-Thru space heating technology from Cambridge Engineering. This technology is perfect for steam retrofits and is recommended for energy retrofit applications including warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, maintenance facilities and any industrial building with large open spaces that require both space heating and some ventilation with outside air.
Holyoke Gas and Electric (HG&E) has provided energy and steam to their New England customers since 1902. However, this historic utility was forced to cease steam production operations due to a slowdown in the economy and a decrease in industrial demand for steam. Both the gas utility and many of their industrial customers needed a new, energy efficient and cost effective way to heat their existing facilities. One solution the utility selected is the use of energy efficient, direct gas-fired S-Series space heating units with Blow-Thru technology manufactured by Cambridge Engineering.
For starters, the utility chose to retrofit one of their own steam heated buildings with Genuine Cambridge direct-fired space heating units. The utility documented actual energy usage for their facility and were quite pleased to find the new Cambridge Blow-Thru space heating system saved them over $54,000 during the first heating season. Based on this documented success, the utility installed more Cambridge heaters in a second building, their former steam production plant, which was at first mothballed and then later converted to a maintenance facility using Cambridge direct gas-fired space heaters.
“Energy efficient Cambridge Blow-Thru space heating equipment is ASHRAE 90.1 compliant and has qualified for energy saving incentives from local utilities and EPAct Federal tax benefits worth millions of dollars,” said Ken Williams, Director of Marketing for Cambridge Engineering.
