WICHITA, KS (KCTV) -

The Kansas State University fan injured in a pedicab accident while making the trip to Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl is on a slow road to recovery.

Michael Tysver is now speaking about the horrific incident that nearly killed him. He is recovering in a Wichita hospital.

Tysver said he made the trip with some friend and, on the night of the game, which also happened to be his birthday, they were riding back to their hotel in a pedicab when a car rear-ended them.

"I remember dropping two of our friends off and then that's the last thing I remember. We woke up in the hospital the next day," Tysver said. "The doctors down there said they never really saw someone hurt like this and got back on their feet so quick."

Tysver's head was nearly severed. He spent six hours in surgery where doctors had to use pieces of his ribs to repair his spine.

Tysver has already re-learned how to walk. The other passenger is still in an Arizona hospital.

The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A fund has been set up to help Tysver and Cody A. Clark, the other crash victim. Click here to read more and donate.
