The oldest teacher in America has turned 99 and plans to continue teaching for at least another year.

Agnus Zhelesnik, whose students in Plainfield, N.J. affectionately call 'Granny', has taught home economics at The Sundance School for 17 years.

According to CNN, Zhelesnik was a stay-at-home-mom for 60 years before taking a position with the school in 1995 at the age of 82.

"That's the only reason why I come here, is the children," Zhelesnik said in an interview with CNN. "My advice? Just be happy, I guess. Just do what you have to do to take care of kids."

MSN Now reports Zhelesnik says she plans to continue teaching until she's 100.
