KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -
A huge stack of smoke could be seen in the sky over KCK Tuesday morning after a fire at a salvage yard.
The fire started just before 9:30 a.m. at the Pick-N-Pull just north of the Kansas River.
One of three fuel tanks at the salvage yard caught fire. Crews were able to put it out with foam.
The location is especially dangerous because the tankers hold gas, diesel fuel and oil.
"Probably six months ago, we were here for basically the same thing. They are still doing renovations on the building. The last time the fire did get into the adjoining building. This time it did not," Deputy Chief Craig Duke, a spokesman for the Kansas City, KS, Fire Department, said.
Firefighters originally called a hazardous materials crew in but canceled the order once they put the fire out.
No one was hurt.
