Vandals damage dozens of headstones in Shawnee cemetery

SHAWNEE, KS (KCTV) -

Crews spent part of Tuesday morning fixing the headstones at a Shawnee cemetery.

Police say someone vandalized three separate cemeteries over the weekend, desecrating 30 graves, some of which date back to the late 1800s.

Authorities said someone pushed the headstones over in one cemetery in the 6000 block of Quivira Road plus in two other graveyards in Shawnee.

Police say there is no office building onsite, and they currently have no leads in the crime.
