OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -
Residents of an Olathe home managed to escape their burning home Sunday, as firefighters battled freezing temperatures to extinguished the blaze.
The fire was reported about 12:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Pine Street.
When crews arrived, flames could be seen shooting out from the back of the house. Firefighters initially tackled the blaze from the outside then moved into the home.
A second building behind the home is likely a total loss according to Asst. Fire Chief Tim Richards.
Richards said there was also "significant fire damage" to the main home.
One of three family dogs died in fire.
