Flu epidemic keeps one out of five kids from school

WAUSAU, WI (WAOW/CNN) - The flu is spreading so quickly, U.S. health officials are calling it an epidemic.

41 states are reporting cases and more are expected.

In one Wisconsin school district, administrators say one out of every five students is out sick because of the virus. Classrooms may start to look a little bare with both respiratory and stomach flu going around.

Teachers state some parents are keeping their children at home as a protective measure.

School officials state they sanitizing all hard surfaces to kill germs.
