Residents of a Greenwood home escaped harm after a fire broke out in the house's basement garage.
Lee's Summit firefighters responded about 10 p.m. Wednesday to the reported fire in the 1600 block of Kimberly Court.
A person inside called 911 and reported smoke and fire in the garage, as smoke alarms were sounding in the house.
When crews arrived, smoke and fire were coming from the garage of one-story, raised ranch-style home.
Firefighters entered the structure and quickly knocked down the fire in the basement garage before it could spread to the rest of the home. The fire was under control about 30 minutes later.
Fire damage was contained to the garage, with varying amounts of smoke damage to the remainder of the house.
