Crews rushed to knock down a house fire Wednesday evening, as a family of three managed to escaped in the blaze.
A 911 caller reported the fire in southern Olathe just before 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 15500 block of South Apache Drive.
When firefighters arrived, flames and smoke were coming from a second-floor bedroom.
It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the fire.
One of the adults inside the home at the time was taken to an area hospital for observation.
A fire investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire.
Firefighters said damage to the home was significant, but a dollar estimate is not yet available.
