A house fire spread to two other homes and damaged a fourth house Wednesday evening.
The fire started about 10 p.m. in the back of a home that was under renovation in the 3500 block of Agnes Avenue on the city's east side.
A car that may have been vandalized was parked behind the home and caught fire. The car fire then spread to the house. No one was living in the home at the time.
The house fire then spread to two occupied homes on both sides of the house and eventually did minor damage to a fourth home.
In one occupied home, a mother and her four children were able to get out safely.
A man said he and his 8-year-old daughter, who live in the other house, lost everything. They were not home at the time of the fire.
Battalion Chief James Garrett said two firefighters were hurt. One fell down while fighting the fire, and the other suffered burns. Both injuries are considered minor.
