School in northeast Kansas City temporarily on lockdown after shots fired nearby

Posted: Updated:

Gladstone Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after shots were fired nearby.

No one was injured and the shots were near a home in the Old Northeast area of Kansas City.

The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. This occurred about 3 p.m.

The home is at 4446 Scarritt St. The school is at 335 N. Elmwood Ave.

Police initially thought the school was targeted, but decided that was not the case.

Police said teenagers sitting on the home's front porch were involved and they found one of the parties involved after finding that person on the porch playing with a shell casing.
