KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of Brandon J. Sloan, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced.

Kelvin B. Taylor, 24, and Adrian E. Roberson, 20, each face charges of second-degree felony murder, four counts of first-degree robbery and four counts of armed criminal action. Roberson also faces a fifth count of armed criminal action.

Police were called about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 8900 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard on a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his mid-20s shot inside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was later identified as 28-year-old Sloan.

Sloan's roommate told police that he was in the house when the shooting happened, and observed two suspects in their early 20s flee the scene in a white car.

According to court records, witnesses told police Taylor was one of two men who went inside Sloan's home, pulled handguns during a drug transaction and shot Sloan. They took cash and cell phones from the victims.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

Prosecutors asked that Taylor's and Roberson's bonds be set at $250,000 cash each.
