Two officers injured in struggle with burglary suspect, police say

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Two Kansas City police officers were injured in a struggle with a burglary suspect, authorities said Thursday afternoon.

A man was arrested after officers allegedly found him burglarizing a home at 37320 Montgall Ave. The man was wanted on a state warrant.

Police said as the officers tried to arrest the man that a fight broke out. The fight began on the house's porch but spilled onto the sidewalk.

A female officer injured her head when it hit the concrete. A male officer suffered possible broken ribs.

Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said officers found in the suspect's possession property from another burglary that occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Prospect Avenue.

The suspect is facing numerous charges including assaulting officers and a burglary charge.
