KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Police are looking for the party responsible after dozens of Arrowhead Stadium parking pole signs have apparently gone missing.
According to the Kansas City, MO, Police Department, 41 of the signs that go on parking poles and help guests find the location of their car have been stolen in the last few weeks.
Police said the signs are valued at $1,000 each.
Kansas City police spokeswoman Sgt. Marisa Barnes said Arrowhead employees saw a suspect drive off with some of the signs Tuesday morning but were unable to stop them.
Detectives said the signs were not on the poles at the time. Crews were doing some construction work at Arrowhead so they had taken the signs down as a precaution.
Authorities have notified scrap yards to be on the lookout for the signs.
Jim Rowland, who heads up the Jackson County Sports Authority, which is the public body that oversees the Truman Sports Complex, said they were old metal signs that had been taken down and were in a storage area. He said new signs were already up.
Rowland said the authority believes the signs had slowly been taken over time, and had no significant value.
If anyone has any information, they are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
