Wreck in Northland injures 3 with 1 critically injured - KCTV5

Police: Speed racing to blame for crash that injured innocent driver, 2 young men

Posted: Updated:

Investigators said Tuesday that street racing is to blame for a violent Northland crash that sent three to the hospital.

A vehicle carrying two young men T-boned a vehicle driven by an older woman, who remains in critical condition in an area hospital.

One of the teens was critically injured, and the other suffered serious injuries. All three injured are expected to survive, but face a long road to recovery.

Chopper5 showed pictures of two cars with their two ends demolished.

The crash happened at 108th Street and North Oak Trafficway.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the street racing has not been arrested. Charges are expected against both that driver and the injured driver, who is improving but remains on a ventilator.

The two drivers allegedly street racing will face vehicular assault and careless driving charges, police said.

Residents told police that street racing is common in this area.
