KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A grand jury has indicted the suspect in a murder involving sex and religion.
The indictment for first-degree murder against Micah Moore replaces the charge he was already facing and means prosecutors will not have to reveal evidence at a preliminary hearing.
Moore confessed to police that he killed Bethany Deaton and made her death look like a suicide. He claimed he did it because her husband and the leader of their religious group, Tyler Deaton, asked him to.
At Moore's last court appearance, his lawyer claimed the confession was all a lie and Bethany Deaton actually had killed herself.
Moore is currently free on a $250,000 cash bond. His next scheduled hearing is Jan. 17.
