Double shooting reported in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting Friday night.

Police responded just after 8:30 p.m. to 33rd Street and Cypress Avenue. Two people were injured and the gunman was on the loose, but police said homeowners shouldn't be worried.

"I think we have it (the situation) under control right now," Capt. Tye Grant with the Kansas City, MO, Police Department said Friday. "I don't have anything to show that anybody should be nervous about anything. I have no idea who the suspect was or if there was any relation to the victims right now, but that's what we're still working on."

Police don't know at this time what lead up to the shooting.
